The first thing to remember is that the sub and the satellite speakers should be in the same phase. To be precise, they should be in the same electrical polarity and have equal time alignment. Otherwise, the crossover area will have a clear bulge or drop in level. There are potentially many sources of phase shifts that can ruin the crossover area. It should be considered that the sub, as well as the satellites, has its proper mechanical phase response.
